French professional soccer team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Stade Rennes with Kylian Mbappe’s winning goal and reached the final of the Coupe de France (French Cup) for the first time in three years.

PSG achieved a 1-0 win over Rennes with Mbappe scoring in the 40th minute of the first half in the 2023-2024 French Cup semifinals held at Parc des Princes in Paris, France on the 4th (Korean time).

Korean national team member Lee Kang-in started as a second-line striker and played well between center and right, but was replaced by Langdal Colo Muani in the 39th minute of the second half when the team was ahead.

Lee Kang-in has 2 goals and 2 assists in League 1 this season, 1 goal and 1 assist in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), and 1 goal in the French Super Cup, and is recording 4 goals and 3 assists in official games.

PSG will clash with Lyon, who defeated Valenciennes 3-0, for the trophy at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Bleneuve d’Asc on May 26.

PSG, which holds the record for the most wins in this competition (14 times), is challenging its 15th win and its first win in three years since the 2020-2021 season.

PSG dominated the game and Mbappe had several chances to score early on, but most of them were blocked by the great saves of Rennes’ 39-year-old veteran goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

Mandanda also blocked Mbappe’s penalty kick by flying to the right in the 37th minute of the first half.

Still, the first goal belonged to PSG, which consistently knocked on the goal.

Mbappe scored the first goal with a shot from a counterattack in the 40th minute of the first half.

Mbappe, who entered the left side of the goal area with two defenders in front of him, hit a shot with his right foot that hit the defender’s foot and went into the goal.

Mangdanda predicted the direction the ball would have headed if it had not been deflected and threw his body.

Mbappe continued his scoring streak in five consecutive games in the French Cup. PSG competed from the 5th round (round of 64), and Mbappe scored (8 goals) in all games until the semifinals.

In the 34th minute of the second half, PSG looked to score an additional goal with Marco Asensio’s left-footed non-stop shot in front of the goal following a cutback from the left, but this time, they were blocked by Mandanda’s save. 한국야동
