Jeju United, a professional soccer team, invites Kwon Soon-hyung, who is recently starting his second soccer career, to send a message of support.
Jeju said on the 27th, “We invite Kwon Soon-hyung, who recently announced his retirement from active duty in the fourth round of the Hana Bank K League 1 against the Pohang Steelers at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on the 30th.”
Kwon Soon-hyung had scored 14 goals and 24 assists in 183 league games in Jeju alone from 2012 to 2019. In particular, he succeeded in career high with 5 goals and 8 assists in 37 games in the 2016 season, and led the team to second place the following year. Kwon Soon-hyung played a key role in the team, including kicking the captain’s armband in Jeju. “Kwon Soon-hyung is a player who made many partners shine, including Song Jin-hyung, Lee Chang-min, Yoon Bit-garam, Oh Seung-beom, and Lee Chan-dong,” the club said. “Fans called him ‘the architect of victory.’ Kwon Soon-hyung’s score even came to the equation of Jeju’s victory.”
Meanwhile, Kwon is reportedly planning to challenge himself in various fields as well as running a soccer class after retirement. Jeju said, “We have decided to invite Kwon to this home game to support and cheer for his challenge. We are preparing various events such as the last greeting on the pitch with Kwon Soon-hyung and a signing event with fans,” adding, “We will give lectures to parents of the Jeju youth team before the game.”
Kwon said through the club, “I want to express my gratitude to Jeju and its fans for making me special, not just a special player. I look forward to meeting Jeju and its fans. Although it is a shame to leave the ground, it is really special to be able to start a new challenge with them in orange waves. I have always missed them and missed them. I want to convey my sincere feelings to Jeju and its fans in the game.”
