KEPCO, OK Financial Group ‘disarmed’

Korea Electric Power Corp. in the men’s professional volleyball division has driven OK Financial Group to five consecutive losses with its relatively overwhelming attack.

KEPCO beat OK Financial Group 3-0 (25-21 25-19 25-15) in the Dodram 2023-24 V League away game held at Sangnoksu Gymnasium in Ansan on Monday. KEPCO overwhelmed OK Financial Group 13-1 in blocking.

Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) gained nine wins and eight losses (27 points), igniting a mid-range fight. The gap between Korea Electric Power Corp., which ranked fourth, and Korean Air, which ranked third (10 wins and six losses and 31 points), is four points.

OK Financial Group has been mired in a five-game losing streak. It ranks fifth with eight wins and nine losses and 22 points.

While KEPCO overwhelmed the team with a score of 13-1, Tydull Host (registered name Tyce, 17 points), Seo Jae-deok (12 points), Lim Sung-jin (10 points), and Shin Young-seok (8 points) performed evenly.

In particular, Shin Young-seok surpassed 4,000 points (4,000 points in total) for the eighth time in men’s history and the first time as a middle blocker.

Lim Sung-jin was in charge of the first set at KEPCO. Lim, who scored eight points in the first set alone, scored three straight points with two rear-end attacks and an open attack at 20-17. Then, Tice ended the first set with two rear-end attacks.

In the second set, the height of the two teams completely divided the victory and defeat. KEPCO blocked OK Financial Group’s attempt to attack with eight blocking points in the second set alone.

Even in the third set, the flow of the game did not change. Seo Jae-deok and Tyce hit constantly, and he easily won the white flag due to overlapping errors in the opponent team.

Song Hee-chae scored 10 points and Shin Ho-jin scored eight points in the OK Financial Group, but Leonardo Leiva Martinez (registered name Leo) scored only two points, which was painful. When foreign player Leo was blocked, he failed to find an alternative and collapsed.

In the women’s event held at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon, GS Caltex defeated Jeong Kwan-kwan 3-1 (25-19 22-25 25-23 25-17) thanks to an onslaught of foreign player Silva.

Silva scored 35 points, including three blocks and one serve. He was followed by Yoo Eui-yeon (14 points) and Kang So-hwi (11 points).

Jeong Kwan-gwan fought hard with Jia scoring 21 points and Mega scoring 19 points, but failed to save the team.

Third-ranked GS Caltex (11 wins, six losses, 31 points) has won three consecutive games, beating fourth-ranked IBK Industrial Bank (9 wins, eight losses, 26 points) by five points. Fifth-ranked Chung Kwan-jang (7 wins, 10 losses, 24 points) lost for the second straight game.
