Silver in the mixed relay at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships goes to Jeon Woong-tae and Kim Sun-woo
South Korean men’s and women’s modern pentathlon standouts Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju Metropolitan Government) and Kim Sun-woo (Gyeonggi-do) combined for a silver medal in the mixed relay at the World Championships.
The duo combined for 1,395 points in fencing, swimming, equestrian and laser run (shooting plus athletics) to finish second behind Mohanad Shaban and Salma Abdelmakoud (Egypt – 1,413 points) in the mixed relay event at the World Championships in Bath, England, on Aug. 28.
Korea’s bid for a third consecutive mixed relay title at the World Championships, following Seo Chang-wan (Jeonnam Provincial Office) and Kim Se-hee (BNK Savings Bank) in 2021 and Jeon Woong-tae and Kim Sun-woo last year, came up short, but the two-time defending champions showed an even performance across all events to earn back-to-back podium finishes.
