Former Major League Baseball Pitcher Serafini Arrested for Murder of Father-in-Law

He was identified as a suspect two years after the incident.

investigative authorities including police and prosecutors identified Serafini as a suspect in a residential murder case in North Lake Tahoe, California in 2021, and was arrested in Nevada on the 20th.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the U.S. media that Serafini is a former baseball player who played in the major leagues under the name “Dan Serafini.”

Investigative authorities also arrested Samantha Scott (33),

who is suspected of conspiring with Serafini in the crime, in Las Vegas.

Serafini was found in a residential area in North Lake Tahoe on June 5, 2021.

He is suspected of killing his father-in-law and mother-in-law (age 70 at the time) by shooting them at their home.

The mother-in-law (68 years old at the time) also suffered a gunshot wound,

but was taken to the hospital, received treatment, recovered, and died a year later.

In the early stages of the investigation, authorities obtained surveillance camera footage around the scene of the incident and captured a man wearing a hoodie with his face covered walking toward the house several hours before the incident.

Afterwards, investigators identified Danny Serafini and Scott as suspects based on information and evidence collected over two years.

The authorities did not reveal the details of the relationship between the two people,

but only mentioned that “they knew each other well and the victims were also well acquainted.”

Serafini was a pitcher in the Major League for seven seasons between 1996 and 2007,
