Park joined the Busan KT Corp. (currently Suwon KT) as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 KBL Rookie Draft. He entered the professional league splendidly, but failed to display his presence at KT. During the five seasons excluding the days of Sangmu, he played in 107 regular league games with an average of 12:59 and had 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds. As Byun Joon-hyung (director Jeong) who was ranked second has grown into a national guard, he was nicknamed Byun Keo-bak (Park Joon-young).
Park Joon-young has changed this off-season, however. He has gained confidence in his performance as he was given more time to play in practice games. At a facility inspection game against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis at Sonicboom Arena in Suwon on Monday, he played 15 minutes and 36 seconds with 12 points and four rebounds, contributing to KT’s 87-85 victory. He has scored several times ahead of his matchup opponent, Jang Jae-seok. He is clearly leading the backup big man competition with Lee Doo-won.
Park Joon-young, who met after the game, said, “In our team, (Ha) Yoon-ki is definitely in position as the main player. Me and (Lee) Doo-won are playing according to the situation. I don’t think there’s any top or bottom because the coach uses them alternately. If there’s a tall big man on the other team, Du-won plays, and if the ball doesn’t run well, I go out. Rather, I think it’s better for the team.”
“Certainly, I feel less pressure. Previously, I felt pressure and pressure for various reasons. So I couldn’t play with confidence, but now I feel okay. I think I look better because I try to play more comfortably,” he added.
Director Song Young-jin is putting Ha Yoon-ki and Raysion Hammons, Park Joon-young and Jeremiah Tillman in practice games. The goal is to maximize the effect by using Park Joon-young, who has mid-range shooting and feeding ability, along with Tillman, who is strong in playing under the basket.
“It’s convenient to play together. I’m not good at rebounding, but Tillman is good at holding the ball. If Tillman settles under the basket, I can put the ball in. I usually have conversations about the play through interpretation,” Park Jun-young said.토토사이트 순위
Park Joon-young plays in the regular league for the most time in 46 games in the 2020-2021 season. There were many games in which he failed to make the 12-man roster or participate in games even though he had no injuries. Therefore, he is aiming to play 54 regular league games in the new season.
“I personally want to play in all 54 regular league games. I’ve never played before, so I want to achieve it,” Park said. “I will do my best to help my team win the championship without any injuries.”
