Chatham resident Maurice Thibaut and his ex-girlfriend Denis Robertson have been in a legal dispute over Canada’s $6 million lottery winnings in September 2017.

Robertson has been fighting in court to pack half of the total prize money with the winning lottery. She claims that the lottery was jointly purchased, and for this, she deserves a cash prize of 3 million Canadian dollars. In the summer of 2018, it was expected that the investigation would be completed by the end of the year, after which the trial would be given a green light.

The Ontario Lottery Game Company has given half of the prize money to the court and the amount is currently in trust until the legal dispute is resolved. Mr. Thibaut claims that his ex-girlfriend does not deserve half of the prize money, because the two of them have never actually arranged a deal for half of the prize money. During the investigation, Mr. Thibaut worked with the Ontario Lottery Game Company to answer all questions.
