“The Board will consider whether to support a new Congress bill calling for independent research into internet gambling to see if it can be properly regulated, controlled, taxed and licensed in the United States,” said AGA President Frank Fahrenkoff.

“I think they (the board) will go ahead and say let’s do it.”

AGA, which represents the U.S. commercial casino industry, strongly opposed internet gambling throughout the late 90s, but its location became unclear after the turn of the century.

“Our policy changed last April when an independent commission took the position that they thought was the best way to look at it,” Fahrenkov said.

AGA board members, who will meet in Las Vegas on Dec. 6 to discuss the issue, include MGM Mirage CEO Terry Rani, Boyd Gaming CEO William Boyd, Harrer Entertainment CEO Gary Loveman and Wynn Resorts CEO Stephen Wynn.

In May 2006, Nevada Representatives Jon Porter and Shelley Buckley introduced a bill calling for the creation of the Complementary Internet Gaming Study Committee as an alternative to a bill banning online gambling in the United States, but the bill made little progress. Porter and Buckley both won reelection last week.

Fahrenkopf said the last time the AGA reexamined the issue, it preferred the National Academy of Sciences to conduct the research, not the parliamentary committee, so that researchers would not have lobbying influence.

“If what we said can be regulated and controlled comes back, we will take the next step, and we will see if we can’t get support for legalization on a state-by-state basis,” he added.

“But it’s a long road.”

A bill aimed at banning internet gambling in the U.S. was signed into law last month amid heavy criticism.

Tribeca Tables is pulling out of certain areas
Press release

LONDON, UK – Tribeca Tables Europe, an online poker solutions company, announced that after long consultations with gaming lawyers, it has decided to pull its poker rooms out of certain regions, particularly the U.S., Israel and Hong Kong markets.
Tribeca will try to support the changes, especially for customers facing the U.S., as much as possible. However, with the recent introduction of the Illegal Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the U.S., and in the same vein as most other responsible networks and poker operators, the company will focus on more non-U.S. territories and new markets. 바카라사이트
