Lotte fought back from a 1-14 deficit and even pulled within 15-14, but couldn’t hold on for the win. Lotte scored again with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Two batters later, Na Seung-yeop and Lee Jung-hoon hit back-to-back singles to right to put runners on first and third. After being silent since the fourth inning, KIA got another chance when Lee Chang-jin led off with a single to right. Kim Tae-gun laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second. Park Chan-ho struck out to put runners on second and third, but Hong Jong-pyo drew an eight-pitch walk to tie the game at 15-15. Park Seung-wook walked on an automatic high grounder to load the bases, and Seo Dong-wook, a former player of the year, struck out. With the bases loaded, Hwang Sung-bin grounded out to the second baseman to end the threat. Kia’s Jang Hyun-sik didn’t back down as he pitched three scoreless innings.
The game then went into the 12th inning, with neither team able to capitalize on their chances.
